Binderboard
®work for one Cherry grower (a testimonial)

We now offering Osmia  Binderboard® for orchard bees, Osmia spp. with two easy to remove bolts to hold the pages tight.   Tunnel diameter is 5/16" and depth is 6".  Paper straw liners will fit in these tunnels for whole-nest management.   Or, omit the straws and use loose cocoon management (see Dogterom, 2002 for details).  Other depths can be made on request.

Osmia Binderboard® should be covered with a roof of some kind, or placed in a shelter so they do not get wet, or they will warp.  Keep the strap on the Binderboard® during winter storage.  Bolts hold the pages very tight, especially if you use our tightening device periodically to tighten the nuts.  If you prefer, we offer a high quality 1" strap with a tight buckle to keep the laminates fitting as tight as possible.  If you have access to a strapping machine and straps, this should also work well.

Binderboard® can be opened page by page so tunnels can be easily cleaned and restacked for the next season.  We offer a scraper for hand removal of cocoons from 4 grooves at once.  Contact us for information .  Harvest, clean and store the bee cells and boards in October or November according to instructions in Dogterom, M.  2002.  Pollination with Mason Bees.  BEEDIVERSE BOOKS.
Price list and order information for books and boards.

We also have a functional stripping machine that we use for harvesting orchard bee cocoons from all 7 grooves at once at a rapid pace.  The machine is not yet available commercially, but we have successfully used it to harvest cocoons for 2006.  Anyone considering managing a large number of nest tunnels can contact us for details.

We are now using bolts instead of a strap for extra pressure on all sizes of Osmia Binderboard®Our bolt design prevents warping of the wood if the boards get wet.  If you have our original design Binderboard® held together with straps, we would be delighted to upgrade them with bolts if you are willing to send them to us.  Alternatively, we will provide you with detailed instructions on how to upgrade them.  Contact us for more information.
If you have had trouble getting the straps tight, we now have a pictorial guide to using our straps.
