Materials and Methods:  Bee movement treatments

bullet

minimum - pollinate all open flowers on a plant before moving to the next plant. Maximizes self-pollination.

bullet

maximum - pollinate one flower per plant before moving to the next plant. Maximizes cross-pollination.

bullet

intermediate - pollinate 2 flowers per raceme up to 6 flowers per plant. Similar to bees?

Notes:

Each bee population treatment was further divided into 3 cross pollination treatments:
minimum - pollinate all flowers on a plant before moving to the next plant using same straw. This minimizes the probability of cross pollination and maximizes the probability of self pollination.
maximum - pollinate one flower per plant before moving to the next plant. Keep rotating until either 30 or all flowers are pollinated. This maximizes cross pollination.
intermediate - pollinate no more than 6 flowers per plant, no more than 2 flowers per raceme. Keep rotating until allotment of flowers has been pollinated.
