Materials and Methods - Each experiment consisted of 6 treatments, each with
10 potted plants. Of the six treatments, there were 3 treatments each of high and
low flower standing crop, the result of low and high “bee” populations,
respectively. High standing crop or flowers (few pollinations) = 30 flowers hand pollinated per treatment per day (or less, if less than
30 flowers were in bloom on a plant). Low standing crop of
flowers (many pollinations) = all flowers on each plant pollinated each day. Generally this was about
150 flowers per plant.
